On 5/12/09 Angry mother of minor child in said... Beware shopping in this store. My 15 year old daughter and her friend went to the counter to place items on hold, were accused of stealing and were asked to pull up their tops and pull down their pants right in the middle of the store with no parent or any other adult there to supervise. It makes me think that the "customer service" rep was not only on a power trip, but was a borderline pedophile. Their reason for accusing the girls of stealing: they did not find any merchandise on the girls other than the items they asked to be placed on hold. The reason is that they found security tags and empty hangers on the floor of the dressing room. Dressing room number 2, mind you, not the dressing room the girls used. They insisted that since the dressing rooms were locked at all times that the girls must be guilty even though nothing was found on them. The girls told me that all three dressing rooms were wide open when they went back to try on clothes, and the only reason they entered one without the rep's help is that they could not get anyone to wait on them. At the rep's insistence that the rooms were locked at all times, I immediately walked back to the dressing rooms followed by a different rep, and one dressing room was wide open with empty hangers and tags on the floor. I asked the rep is she wanted me to drop my pants too, since I must be guilty of theft based on hangers on tags on the floor of a wide open dressing room, and not based on finding any real evidence of theft, just as the girls had been accused. I reported this to security, but since the security guards and the rep are buddies, I doubt any action will be taken. So if you want your minor children to be forced to expose themselves in the middle of the 5-7-9 store at Mall St. Matthews, by means let them shop there. They don't have to steal anything, the reps just have to find hangers and tags on the floor to "prove" that your minor child has stolen and must be inappropriately searched.
